» Meet The Team
Birmingham Carers Centre provides support, information and advice to people who care for friends and family
with disabilities.
Support Workers based at the Centre provide support to Carers on all issues related to their caring role.
Enquiries range from social services, equipment, finance, care homes, holidays and leisure, to home care and many more. Support Workers provide Carers with information on topics, factsheets listing specialist organisations, provide advice, free benefits checks and signpost to specialist organisations where necessary. We also provide a listening
ear to any Carer who needs to offload.
We respect all contacts received from Carers, keep them informed at all times with their enquiries, and maintain all aspects of confidentiality.

Events at the Carers Centre
Various events and groups are held at the centre on a regular basis. All Carers are welcome, please bring along the person you care for or a friend. Please check the ‘What’s On’ calendar for up to date information on our:
Coffee Mornings, information events and sessions, Carers training, Carers outings and activity sessions.

Future Events for Carers
Craft and art workshops as well as Thai chi, extend exercise and yoga classes are currently being planned for Carers.

Meet the Team
| Tina Donovan – Carers Centre Manager |
Tina manages and carries out all the day to day management of the centre and its personnel. |
| Lisa Hughes – Short Breaks Officer |
Lisa is developing the Short Breaks Service in Birmingham and works closely with the FASBC (Fairer Access to Short Breaks for Carers’). Her main role is to advise carers’ of leisure activities and short breaks so they can gain some respite from their caring responsibilities. |

The information team provide frontline support to all carers’ in Birmingham. This is done via telephone, email, fax or face to face. They provide information, advice and support on a number of issues such as benefits, housing and welfare issues.
All Information Officers also go into the community to undertake talks, presentations and participate in monthly carers’ forums. |
